This is another keep-alive post. Sorry, nothing to see here for now.

Stayin' alive

This is merely a keep-alive post. After long neglect, I tried to check this blog last summer, and was unable to find it. I figured it had been deleted because I had been ignoring it for so long. However, I just received an email informing me that it would be deleted, soon, if I didn't Do Something with it soon. So, I'm Doing Something with it.

Taking it back

For me, nothing represented the taking back of my country better than Congressman-elect John Hall and Stephen Colbert reclaiming the National Anthem.



Lest we forget...

Fire

The Jaguar in front of me has a "W '04" bumper sticker
(as if I needed a reminder),
and my transmission is slipping.

Entering the store, my eyes are assaulted by a Christmas card display,
my ears by "The Twelve Days of Christmas."
As this is 10 November, I reckon it's closer to 45 days.

It has been years-- five? ten?-- since I ate breakfast cereal.
Today I have a craving for an old favorite brand.
That brand has shelf space, but the space is empty.

Then "The Twelve Days of Christmas" segues into "Fire"
(the Pointer Sisters' cover of Bruce Springsteen's song).
I smile at a total stranger, who smiles back.
